Major Liquor Smuggling Bust in Bokajan: Over 9 Lakh Rupees Worth of Foreign Liquor Seized

Bokajan, Assam: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, Assam Police in Bokajan’s Khakarajan area, Borpathar, intercepted a truck laden with a substantial quantity of foreign liquor on Sunday.

The vehicle, bearing the registration number AS-01-JC-7426, was en route from Lakhipur, Guwahati, to Kahimal. However, a routine check by the police revealed a cunning concealment strategy. The illicit liquor was cleverly disguised as food cartons, attempting to evade detection.

A thorough inspection uncovered nearly 300 cartons of high-end foreign liquor hidden within the truck. The driver, identified as Phulchand Ali Mondal, hailing from Golakganj, Dhubri, was promptly apprehended and is currently being interrogated.

Excise Department officials have estimated the market value of the seized liquor to exceed a staggering 9 lakh rupees.

The successful operation highlights the relentless efforts of the Assam Police in curbing illegal activities and safeguarding the state. Further investigations are underway to unravel the entire smuggling network and bring all culprits to justice.
