Guwahati: In a bizarre and shocking incident, a 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attacking his wife by silting her throat with a sharp weapon in Sivasagar district of Assam on Monday.
The incident took place at Pator village in Banmukh BO under Sivasagar District.
The victim has been identified as Rinku Gogoi.
According to reports, Rinku Gogoi had filed a FIR at Sivasagar Sadar Police Station on April 27 against her notorious husband Amrit Gogoi for allegedly assaulting her while under the influence of alcohol.
On the basis of the complaint, the Sivasagar police called the duo to the police station on April 29 based on the allegation and warned the husband not to torture his wife and child in the future. However, the conflict between the couple continued.
Reportedly, the victim Rinku Gogoi was washing the floor on Monday when the accused Amrit allegedly tried to murder his wife by slicing her throat with a knife.
However, the victim was able to save herself by fleeing the spot. She then sought refuge at a neighbor’s home.
Meanwhile, Rinku was rushed to Sivasagar Civil Hospital in severe condition by his neighbours.
It needs to be mentioned that the notorious husband has been arrested by the Sivasagar police and an investigation has been launched into the matter.
