Manipur: 10 Myanmar Nationals Held in Churachandpur
Guwahati: 10 suspected Myanmarese nationals including 5 females and a minor have been arrested by Churachandpur Police on Sunday.
According to reports, the 10 Myanmarese nationals were arrested for illegally entering India via the porous border in the Manipur district.
Upon receiving reliable inputs about the presence of illegal Myanmar nationals, a search operation was conducted at Vaal Veng area in New Lamka town in the Churachandpur district of Manipur
A team of police officers, led by OC/CCP-PS and OC-WPS Churachandpur rushed to the hideouts and rounded up the Myanmarese after a hot chase on the barren fields.
After initial verification, the arrested nationals admitted that they had come to Churachandpur on different dates and had been hiding out at Vaal Veng village.
According to reports, they were from the Sagaing region of Myanmar bordering Manipur and Mizoram on the Indian side.
A case under FIR NO.16(2)2023 CCP-PS u/s 14 Foreigners Act have been registered by the police officials.
An investigation into case is currently underway.
