Manipur: Arms and Ammunition Seized by Assam Rifles near Elora Hotel in Moreh

Northeast Desk, 2nd March: In an operation launched on March 1st, Assam Rifles recovered arms, ammunition, and war-like stores near Elora Hotel, Moreh, Manipur, based on specific intelligence.

The operation yielded one point 38 pistol, 10 country-made IEDs, three grenades, and various other ammunition. The seized items have been handed over to the local Police for further investigation.

Prior to this, the Manipur Police apprehended three individuals associated with the banned KCP (N) from Imphal West district. Arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession, along with five mobile handsets and Rs 4 lakh in cash.

According to a police officer, the recovered arms and ammunition are suspected to have been looted from security forces earlier.

Manipur has witnessed recurring episodes of violence since ethnic clashes between communities erupted in May last year, resulting in the deaths of 219 individuals.
