Manipur CM declares that 4 hill districts will get super specialty health care infrastructure

Guwahati: The construction of super-specialty healthcare facilities has been announced by Chief Minister N Biren Singh for the four hill districts of Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Chandel as soon as possible. The programme was started to address the complaints of patients who had to travel to Imphal or other towns for treatment from remote areas.

On January 19, N Biren Singh made this announcement at the Tekru-Nge Celebration’s opening ceremony at Jessami Village, Ukhrul District. The festival, which is still going strong as of January 21 and has as its theme “Walking through the diversity and depth of Jessami,” was held.

Speaking as the event’s chief guest, Biren explained that although the hill districts lack specialists, Tele-ICU is used at the hospitals in the hill districts to treat illnesses that need them.

According to him, the state government also has plans to boost the number of super specialists in medicine.

Biren emphasised the importance of creating the Heritage Park in Makhel and the importance of fortifying brotherly relationships between the villages in order to maintain unity and integrity.

According to Biren, the initiation of the “Go to Village” and “Go to Hill” missions in the previous term helped to highlight the absence of infrastructure, including as roads, offices, schools, and healthcare facilities, in the rural regions.

Biren added that the COVID-19 outbreak had severe consequences for the government’s ability to serve the people during the previous term. But even during that brief time in the previous administration, a number of development initiatives were started.

The Minority and Other Backward Classes Department received fiscal support from the Prime Minister, who also oversaw the investment of approximately Rs. 1200 crore in projects in the hill districts. Model Residential School, LM Block, Ukhrul District, and Women’s Market in the hill districts are a few of the projects underway. According to him, similar model residential schools, Sadbhavna Mandaps, women’s markets, oxygen plants, transportation accommodations, etc. are all being built in the hill districts.

He promised to open the Additional SP and ADC offices as soon as possible and to further look into the document that the people had provided, including opening an SBI bank to facilitate financial operations.

He advised the villagers to submit a report to the DC for the creation of a wildlife sanctuary in a neighbouring forest region that is home to a variety of animals, including the Nongyin bird, with thorough geo-tagging and mapping.

The inaugural function was also attended by ministers, MLAs and among others.
As part of the celebration, the Chief Minister also dedicated the Model Residential School, LM Block, Ukhrul and Cave Tourism Project at Khangkhui Cave to the public and inaugurated a display of Cultural and WWII-related items.
