Manipur: Congress Leader Arrested For Disrespecting Amit Shah

Guwahati: A senior Congress leader from Manipur, Sanaojam Samachoron Singh was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly making insulting statements about Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

According to reports, during a debate session on a local television channel on April 9, Singh allegedly used insulting words against Shah.

The spokesperson of Manipur Congress, Singh was arrested by Imphal police after the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president M Barish Sharma filed an FIR against him.

Singh is accused of purposefully demeaning mainland Hindus and calling them “animals,” according to the BJYM president.

Based on the complaint, a case was filed against the senior Congress leader under sections 124-A, 295-Z, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

However, Singh was reportedly given bail by a local court after his case was heard.
