Manipur DGP Rajiv Singh Visits Drone Attack Sites; Asserts Commitment to Restoring Peace

Northeast Desk, 3rd September: Manipur’s Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh on September 3 visited the violence-stricken Kadangband and Koutruk areas following recent drone attacks that occurred on September 1 and 2. These assaults have caused significant damage to local residences.

During his visit, DGP Singh inspected the damage and interacted with residents. He described the drone attacks as unprecedented for Manipur and stressed that the situation is being treated with utmost seriousness. “We have escalated the matter and are coordinating with top officials in Delhi, including the DG of NSG and his team, who will soon be joined by other experts to address this issue,” Singh stated.

A specialized committee has been established to counter the drone threat. Singh assured that solutions are actively being explored, noting ongoing operations in the hill regions, which have also been targeted. Recent combing operations have led to significant recoveries.

“The Centre is providing full support, and all security forces are collaborating closely,” Singh added. He highlighted the deployment of 198 Central forces companies and the Assam Rifles, with the DG of Assam Rifles arriving to lend his expertise.

Singh also emphasized the Manipur government’s dedication to resolving the crisis, with the Chief Minister personally engaging with key stakeholders. “We will leave no stone unturned in bringing those responsible to justice,” Singh concluded, reinforcing the collective effort to restore peace and security in the region.
