Manipur Inks MoU with Infosys to Enhance Education Quality
Guwahati: The Manipur Education Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Infosys Ltd. on the implementation of Infosys Springboard on Wednesday in the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in the presence of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.
Education Minister Th. Basanta Singh and MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh were also present at the occasion.
The MoU was signed by Head of Corporate Affairs Santhosh Ananthapura, Senior Vice President of Infosys Ltd. Thirumala Arohi, Education (S) Director L. Nandakumar, and Education (S) Commissioner Gyan Prakash.
The MoU aims to improve teaching-learning activities and teaching efficacy by using technological assistance under the Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme. The programme is completely in line with the National Education Policy 2020 and includes elements geared toward students and teachers.
Infosys Ltd. received praise from Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for the new endeavour. The Chief Minister further emphasised the importance of the National Education Policy, stating that the State has already embraced it and will require assistance to fully execute it.
N. Biren Singh also mentioned that the administration has started certain programmes and projects to enhance the State’s educational system. He described programmes like Star Education and the School Fagathansi Mission.
The Chief Minister gave an explanation of School Fagathansi, stating that it was initially implemented in 60 schools, one school from each of the 60 Assembly Constituencies.
It should be noted that, through the programme, Infosys Springboard will offer students from Class 6 to lifelong learners a curriculum-rich virtual platform that delivers corporate-grade learning experiences, on any device, with closer educator-learner collaboration.
The “Facilitate to Engage” course, which will cover instructional design and content creation, introduction to emerging and digital technologies, how to use online platforms for effective learner engagement, and authoring courses and assessments on online platforms, will be the focus of the faculty development programme under the plan.
Experts from Infosys will virtually deliver the curriculum online, and teachers can also advance their own skills.
Through the current model of “Student to learn by doing and develop holistically in preparation for emerging jobs and career opportunities,” Infosys Springboard also gives students the power to collaborate more effectively with other learners on their skill-building journey by using the platform’s engagement features, inspiring them to learn, leveraging the Teacher-Student relationship, just-in-time learning, and other strategies.
