Manipur Legislative Assembly Launches National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA)

Northeast Desk, 27th February: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) in the Manipur Legislative Assembly on February 27.

The event witnessed the presence of Speaker Shri Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, Administrative Secretaries, among others.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh hailed the launch as a historic moment, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dynamic leadership. He expressed the nation’s aspiration to become the world’s third-largest economy in the next five years under the Prime Minister’s guidance.

The Chief Minister underscored NeVA’s significance in India’s journey towards digital empowerment and knowledge economy. He highlighted its role in facilitating paperless assemblies, promoting transparency, accessibility, accountability, and effectiveness in democracy.

Singh emphasized the transformation of legislatures into Digital Houses, citing benefits for the economy and environment. He stressed the importance of e-Assembly services for fostering e-democracy, uniting legislatures across the country on a single platform.

Singh also lauded the recent launch of the Vahan Application by the Transport Department and the Digitization & e-Archiving of Manipur Gazette.

Speaker Shri Thokchom Satyabrata Singh emphasized NeVA’s goal of digitally connecting legislatures of Parliament and all Legislative Assemblies. He highlighted the benefits of a paperless House and its positive impact on the environment.

Delivering the keynote address, Additional Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Mission Leader NeVA Dr. Satya Prakash congratulated Manipur Legislative Assembly for joining NeVA, marking a significant step towards a digital era. He underscored NeVA’s role in enhancing democracy and governance, providing comprehensive digital resources to engage meaningfully in the democratic process.

Additionally, a mock training session was conducted for the members to familiarize them with NeVA.
