Manipur: Nine districts ‘highly vulnerable’ to COVID-19

Guwahati: At least nine districts of Manipur represent “high vulnerability” to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic due to the Omicron variant.

According to a recent assessment titled ‘Susceptibility of Districts for Covid-19’ by an empowered committee set up by the Centre on Covid-19, nine districts in Manipur exhibit “high vulnerability” to the impending COVID-19 pandemic due to the Omicron form.

According to the paper, some districts in poll-bound states including as Manipur, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh are “very vulnerable to the growing COVID-19 pandemic due to the Omicron form,” putting their residents at risk of “severe sickness and poor outcomes.”

According to The Indian Express, the report was recently made accessible to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Around 16 districts in Manipur along with the 65 districts of UP and all districts from Panjab are listed as Category 1 and Category 2 districts that represent high vulnerability to the emerging COVID-19 variant of Omicron.

It may be mentioned that two districts from Manipur fall under Category 1 of the vulnerable districts for COVID-19.
