Manipur Police Apprehend Two Alleged PREPAK-PRO Members for Extortion Activities

Northeast desk, 23rd May: The Manipur Police have detained two individuals believed to be active members of the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-PRO) in Imphal East district, according to official reports.

The apprehension, carried out by Imphal East district commandos, targeted a female cadre and a male activist suspected of engaging in extortion activities on behalf of the outlawed group.

Authorities revealed that during the operation, they confiscated cash amounting to Rs. 35,000, as well as a Honda Activa scooter, three mobile phones, and a wallet from the arrested individuals.

In an official statement disseminated on platform ‘X’, the Manipur Police confirmed the apprehension of the two suspects identified as Salam (N) Lourembam (O) Bembem Devi, aged 42, and Kangabam Sanatomba Singh alias Amuba, aged 49.

Currently in police custody, both individuals are undergoing further investigation as authorities strive to uncover the extent of their alleged involvement with the banned outfit.
