Manipur Police Arrest Two for Extortion in Imphal Showrooms, Heightened Security Measures Implemented

Imphal: The Manipur police arrested two individuals involved in extortion activities targeting showrooms in Imphal. The accused have been identified as Irungbam Nganba Meitei (34) and Haobijam Sanathoi Singh (18), both active members of the PREPAK (People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak) organization.

During the operation, police recovered two mobile phones, a two-wheeler, and a driving license from the arrested duo.

In ongoing efforts to enhance security in vulnerable areas across the state’s hill and valley districts, Manipur police have intensified search operations and area domination exercises. The security personnel ensured the safe passage of 46 vehicles along NH-37 and 272 vehicles along NH-2, transporting essential goods.

Additionally, security forces have tightened vigilance across the state by installing 109 Nakas/Checkpoints at strategic locations. These measures are aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring the smooth and secure movement of vehicles through sensitive areas.
