Manipur Security Forces Seize Weapons and Explosives in Bishnupur District
Northeast, August 18, 2024 — Security forces in Manipur have made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to secure the region, conducting extensive search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts. The operation, centered on the Wangoo Naodakhong Meichakpi hill in Bishnupur District, led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and explosives.
During the operation, security personnel seized a 9mm CMG, a 9mm pistol, a country-made pistol, two 9mm magazines, two HE-36 hand grenades, a 2″ mortar HE bomb, a 2″ mortar illumination bomb, and 30 live rounds of ammunition.
These recoveries are part of the ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and explosives in the region, ensuring the safety and security of both the hill and valley districts in Manipur. The operation underscores the determination of the security forces to maintain peace and prevent violence in the state.
