Meghalaya Awards 48 Scholars with Chief Minister’s Research Grant
Northeast Desk, August 17, 2024 — In a notable ceremony during the 78th Independence Day celebrations, the Meghalaya government honored 48 scholars with the Chief Minister’s Research Grant (CMRG) for their significant contributions to various fields of study.
The CMRG, introduced to foster research and innovation within the state, saw 48 scholars awarded out of 131 applicants. The selected recipients are recognized for their research in areas including land, lineage, language, heritage, arts and culture, and evaluation studies. This initiative aims to support and encourage ongoing research efforts in Meghalaya.
Additionally, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma awarded several prestigious honors during the event:
- Police Medal for Meritorious Service: Dr. Sacheng R. Marak, Assistant Inspector General of Police, and Havildar Anil Kumar Singh.
- Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service: Raju Ram Rabha and Bhupesh Ch. Hajong.
- Home Guards & Civil Defence Medals: Ram Charles Lamare and Prafulla Basumatary.
- Director General Commendation Certificates: Presented to 15 personnel, including MK Sangma and RP Khongwar.
These awards highlight the state’s commitment to recognizing outstanding service and promoting research excellence.
