Manipur’s Kwakta Bomb Blast Case: NIA Arrests Man From Assam’s Silchar

Northeast Desk, 17th October: In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended one of the accused linked to the bomb explosion that occurred in Kwakta, situated in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.

This was informed by the law enforcement agency through an official announcement on Monday.

According to NIA reports, a well-coordinated operation, based on intelligence, was carried out in collaboration with the Assam Police.

The operation led to the arrest of an individual named Md. Noor Hussain in Silchar, located in Assam’s Cachar district.

It may be mentioned that, on June 21, at around 7:10 pm, there was an explosion over a bridge in the Kwakta area along Tiddim Road.

The explosion resulted from an explosive device planted inside a Scorpio car, which was left parked on the bridge by unidentified individuals.

As a consequence of the blast, a section of the bridge on its western side sustained damage, and three young boys suffered minor injuries.

All the injured individuals were promptly evacuated to Bishnupur District Hospital.

Initially, the Manipur Police registered a case related to this incident, documented under FIR no. 635(6)2023, dated June 21, 2023, at PGCI Police Station in Bishnupur district. Later, the case was taken over by the NIA on June 23, in Imphal.

Through their investigations in the case registered as RC 01/2023/NIA/IMP, the NIA has uncovered the involvement of Noor Hussain in the bomb blast incident.

The NIA has further indicated that their investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
