Manish Sisodia Granted Interim Bail to Attend Niece’s Wedding
National Desk, 12th February: A Delhi court granted interim bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on February 12 to attend his niece’s wedding. Sisodia is currently in jail in connection with an alleged liquor policy scam.
Seeking interim bail from February 12 to 16 to attend his niece’s marriage in Lucknow, Sisodia was granted respite by Special Judge MK Nagpal from February 13 to 15 in the money laundering and corruption cases under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), respectively.
Represented by the CBI, which opposed his release citing him as a “highly influential” person in a “high and powerful post” who may “tamper with evidence,” Sisodia expressed his disagreement with the idea of police officers accompanying him to the wedding ceremony.
Refusing the proposal, Sisodia’s counsel stated, “Don’t humiliate my family by sending cops with me.” He emphasized, “No. It will spoil the atmosphere. Even if I get three days, that is fine by me but not with cops going with me.”
