Mann Ki Baat: Narendra Modi Emphasizes on Water Conservation
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 88th edition of the monthly radio programme ‘Mann ki Baat’ underlined the importance of water conservation in the country, calling it “essential to the country’s prosperity” on Sunday.
Modi praised the Central government’s Amrit Sarovar initiative, saying that water conservation is a social and spiritual responsibility for everyone.
Modi also promised to build 75 Amrit Sarovars (ponds) in each of the country’s districts.
Modi said “As the temperature rises, so does our responsibility to save water. 75 Amrit Sarovars will be created in each district of the country during the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. You can picture the scope of the campaign. There will soon be 75 Amrit Sarovars, one of which will be in your own city.”
“Water conservation has been classified as the social and spiritual duty of every citizen,” PM Modi stated, emphasising efforts for water conservation.
However, Modi praised a Panchayat in Uttar Pradesh for revitalising a pond that had previously been clogged with debris.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi encouraged citizens to visit museums to learn more about India’s history.
The Prime Minister also tested the audience on several museums throughout the country, encouraging people to submit their answers via the NaMo App or via social media using the hashtag ‘Museum Quiz.’ The quiz will pique people’s interest in the museum across the country.
