Massive Cannabis Consignment Seized at Assam-Tripura Border; One Arrested

Guwahati, 8th August: In a significant operation, a substantial quantity of cannabis was seized from a truck during a routine search operation at the inter-state border between Assam and Tripura, according to officials.

A routine checkpoint had been established at Churaibari village, strategically positioned along the Assam-Tripura state borders. During the course of a stop-and-search operation, vigilant officials intercepted a truck, leading to the discovery of the cannabis consignment.

Initial reports suggest that the police inspection revealed the illicit substance hidden within a concealed compartment within the truck.

Authorities confiscated approximately 300 kilograms of cannabis in total, estimating its value to be around Rs 40 lakhs in the illegal drug market.

In connection with the incident, officials apprehended the truck’s driver, identified as Radheshyam Dubey, on charges of smuggling the contraband.

Interrogation of the apprehended individual unveiled the intention behind the consignment – it was destined for transportation to other states via Assam, originating from Agartala.
