Massive Landslide In Upper Siang District of Arunachal

Guwahati: Continuous rainfall for the past two-days lead to a massive landslide in Arunachal’s Upper Siang district on March 24 which resulted in a major traffic jam.

Yingkiong-Tuting Town in the Upper Siang district which borders China witnessed a significant landslide during the day that caused a severe traffic jam and left many vehicles trapped for hours amid rain.

Commuters parked their respective vehicles on the road side between Bomdo-Janbo. Numerous vehicles were severely damaged as they tumbled down with the rubble.

Although there haven’t been any known fatalities till now but the movement of vehicles on this road was rather hampered.

The Upper Siang district government provided safety advice for commuters and residents entering Arunachal Pradesh amid torrential rain and landslide accidents.

District administration requested the people not to travel during heavy downpours. Commuters are requested to wear Helmets and seat belts.

People have been also urged to avoid parking near landslide zone. 

Meanwhile, northeast region has been experiencing severe rain for the past three days which has resulted in significant traffic congestion and isolated landslide occurrences in some of the northeast’s seven states.
