Guwahati, 15th September: A significant scam has been uncovered at the District Commissioner’s (DC) office in Darrang, Assam. The scam revolves around the Disaster Management Department of the DC office and allegedly involves embezzlement of crores of rupees by a contractor named Nibaron Bora.
Reports suggest that Nibaron Bora’s company, MD Enterprise, received a tender for the Disaster Management department at the DC office. It is alleged that the company misappropriated a substantial amount of money through two bank accounts. There are suspicions that employees at the DC office may have been involved in the scam.
MD Enterprise, with proprietors Mallika Barman and Deepak Baruah, has presented sufficient documents to establish its legality. However, another enterprise named NB Enterprise, also connected to Bora, lacks relevant documentation, raising questions about its establishment without proper verification.
A complaint has been filed with the Darrang Police Station regarding this matter. Still, the Superintendent of Police (SP) has reportedly declined to take legal action, citing that the case falls under the purview of the DC’s office.
