Meghalaya: BJP Announces Candidates for Upcoming KHADC and JHADC Elections
Shillong: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced its candidates for the upcoming district council elections in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), scheduled for February 21, 2025.
The announcement comes after the state government confirmed the Governor’s approval to hold the elections. The election schedule is as follows:
- Election notification: January 27, 2025
- Nominations deadline: February 3, 2025
- Nomination scrutiny: February 3, 2025
- Nomination withdrawal deadline: February 4, 2025
- Election results: February 24, 2025
The BJP has fielded 14 candidates for KHADC and three candidates for JHADC. Here are the BJP candidates:
KHADC Candidates:
- Himanta Timung
- Main Raja
- Hopingstone Marsharing
- Brighstarfield Khongwir
- Councellor Mukhim
- Elvisstar Kharbudon
- Ebren Khongthah
- Fairlock D Ryngksai
- Kynsaibor Lyngdoh
- Daniella Nonglait
- Lewis Janong Sooting
- Dimandar Lyngdoh
- Dominic Wahlang
- Roland Mawsor
JHADC Candidates:
- Heimonmitre Phawa
- Manbha Lyngdoh
- Shanbor Rymbai
Other political parties, including the Voice of the People Party (VPP), National People’s Party (NPP), and Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), have also announced their candidates. The VPP is contesting all 29 constituencies across KHADC and JHADC, while the NPP has fielded 18 candidates for KHADC and 29 candidates for JHADC. The KHNAM has fielded eight candidates for KHADC.
