Meghalaya BJP Women’s Wing Urges High Court Intervention in South West Garo Hills Gang Rape Case
Northeast Desk, 23rd April: The Meghalaya BJP Mahila Morcha has raised serious concerns following the harrowing incident involving the gang rape of two tribal minor girls in South West Garo Hills on April 17, 2024.
Taking a proactive stance, the organization has made a fervent appeal to the Meghalaya High Court, urging it to take suo moto action against the perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime. Alongside this plea, the Mahila Morcha has requested the court to demand a detailed report from the local Police Department regarding the incident.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, the state unit of BJP Mahila Morcha conveyed their distress, stating, “Two tribal minor girls were subjected to the horrific act of gang rape in South West Garo Hills on the 17th of April 2024. We respectfully urge your honor to intervene suo moto and demand a thorough report from our Police Department. Your honor, we have complete faith in the judiciary and are confident that with your intervention, justice will be swiftly served.”
