Meghalaya: Founder member of terror group arrested for sending threat mails

Guwahati: Meghalaya Police arrested a suspected founder member of newly formed terror outfit which allegedly had sent email threats to Chief Minister Conrad Sagma.

The emails were allegedly sent to CM for the growing unemployment in the state and threatened to bomb educational institutes.

Sources in Meghalaya police said that while two persons were detailed, one was later shown arrested. Though police did not share much detail of the arrested person, claimed that he was the founder of the outfit and a resident of Meghalaya.

Earlier, the outfit had demanded the release of the jailed leader of insurgent group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) Julius K Dorphang. It had warned of blowing up a school if the demand was not met.

It may be mentioned that recently the HNLC had come forward for unconditional talks and the peace dialogue process was on.
