Meghalaya to Host Two-Day Tourism Conclave on August 6-7
Meghalaya, August 2, 2024 — Meghalaya will host a two-day tourism conclave on August 6 and 7, providing a platform for key stakeholders to voice their issues and contribute to shaping the state’s tourism sector.
Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh announced that he will chair the inaugural session of the conclave, while Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will be present for the events on August 7.
“We have invited all stakeholders in the tourism industry to discuss concerns and collaborate on enhancing our tourism sector,” said Lyngdoh. Participants will include tour and travel operators, hotel and resort owners, local tourist guides, Dorbar Shnongs, and residents from tourist areas.
This announcement follows an incident on July 26, when the Hynniewtrep National Youth Federation (HNYF) stopped vehicles registered in Assam from traveling to popular tourist destinations Sohra and Dawki. The pressure group barred these vehicles at the Umtyngar junction, citing concerns over local tourism dynamics.
The conclave aims to address such issues and foster a collaborative approach to improve and sustain tourism in Meghalaya.
