Guwahati: A 25-year-old man was arrested by Guwahati city police on Friday for allegedly raping a minor girl in the Bamunimaidan area of Guwahati a few months ago.
After a protracted manhunt the suspect identified as Babul Ahmed was apprehended from Baghbar Maharipam village in Barpeta district.
Information indicates that the horrifying incident occurred a few months ago in Kushal Nagar, a area in the Bamunimaidan area of the city.
According to reports, the accused was a tenant living at the victim’s home and had carried out the crime when the victim’s mother was out at work.
Reportedly, Ahmed was a fish seller in the area and fled to Barpeta after committing the murder.
A case under the pertinent laws was filed against the criminal.
