Mizoram: CID (SB) Arrests Three Individuals for Extortion and Drug Possession

Northeast Desk, 12th April: A special Operation Team of CID (SB) on March 25, 2024 arrested three individuals, namely Zarzova (47) from Mauchar, Lalropianga (38) from Manipur, and Lalmuankima (34) from Mauchar, at Saipum village in Kolasib district.

They were apprehended due to their involvement in extorting money from non-local traders traveling between NEEPCO/Tuirial Hydel Project and Mauchar village, Aizawl District.

Case No. 5/24, dated March 23, 2024, under Sections 397/395/341/34 IPC was registered at Sakawrdai Police Station.

Additionally, on March 20, 2021, Excise & Narcotics seized 324 grams of Heroin from Zarzova’s possession at ‘Ralbawm ram,’ located approximately 8 kilometers from Bukpui in Kolasib district.

He was arrested on the same day, and NDPS case No. A/O SC(K) No. 15/21 under Section 21(c) was registered.

Despite being released on bail due to health issues on September 15, 2021, Zarzova faced judgement on April 08, 2024, when the Kolasib Fast Track Court sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1,00,000.
