Mizoram to seek information about Myanmar Nationals from Assam

Guwahati:  Mizoram Police will seek detailed information over the arrest of 26 Myanmar nationals by Assam Police in Guwahati with Indian documents allegedly forged in Mizoram.

According to reports, the Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) of Mizoram, John Neihlaia said that the state government was not aware of the Myanmar nationals’ arrest and their fake documents.

He further said that Mizoram Police will write a formal letter to Assam Police seeking detailed information of Myanmar nationals and their fake documents so that the officials can verify them and take action as per the law.

Earlier on 12 September Assam Police said that they had arrested 26 persons suspected to be from Myanmar, from a lodge in Guwahati and all of them were in possession of fraudulent Indian passport.

According to Assam Police the identity cards were issued by the Faith Theological College and Mission in Aizawl, which said they were the resident of the state.

It may be mentioned that the arrested people including 10 women and 16 men claimed that they are citizens of Chin state of Myanmar and were on their way to Delhi to study theology.
