Mobile Internet Services to be Suspended in 25 Dists of Assam on August 21 & 28

Guwahati: Mobile internet and broadband services to be temporarily suspended in 25 districts of Assam on August 21 and 28.

This was announced by state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

The recruitment exam for about 30,000 grade III and IV positions will begin in the districts on August 21 and 25.

CM Sarma participated in a virtual conference with DCs and other stakeholders in order to ensure a smooth examination process. He requested that the authorities to ban internet service in the districts with recruitment examination centres during the hours of the exams.

About 14 lakh candidates are expected to appear in the exams.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Let the mobile internet service be shut down for at least three hours during the examinations on respective days.”

The SOPs were also discussed by CM Sarma, who urged the DCs to follow them strictly and with appropriate security.

The chief minister requested that each district have a Superintendent of Police (SP) officer assigned to them who will be in charge of overseeing the security of all district centres.

He also requested that the DGP place an officer with the sub-inspector rank in each state centre. He urged all officials to have no tolerance for anyone who engages in unethical behaviour, such distributing untrue information about the hiring process.
