Guwahati: More than 150 members of the Congress Party joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Gohpur, which was a significant loss for the party.
It is to be mentioned that Gohpur is also the constituency of former Congress President Ripun Bora who is currently the President of Trinamool Congress; Assam.
The congress party’s supporters switched over to the saffron party in the presence of BJP MLA Utpal Bora in East Dubia Gram Panchayat in Gahpur.
While speaking to reporters BJP MLA Utpal Bora said that the Congress party’s members were dissatisfied with their leaders and the party’s philosophy.
“They have joined BJP because they believe that they can serve people only if they are in our party”, Bora added.
He claimed that the BJP is the only party where members work day and night to assist the country’s citizens and to bring about social change, and that the Congress has no knowledge of development.
