MP Gaurav Gogoi Reacts to Assam’s Constituency Redistricting
Guwahati: In a dig at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Congress leader and MP Gaurav Gogoi claimed that the Chief Minister becomes anxious and uneasy if his name doesn’t appear frequently enough in newspapers or other prominent media. Due to the existence of a neo-BJP syndicate in Assam, there are two victims in every bullet used in the constituency delimitation.
Even if AIDUF, Union Minister Kiren Rijiu or any other party comes together, it is impossible to defeat the Congress in Kaliabar constituency, Gogoi added. The Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma has started the constituency delimitation process to protect the new BJP by kicking out the old BJP in order to save him, Gogoi claimed.
However, the MP claimed that Himanta Biswa Sarma made the decision on his own without consulting veteran BJP members. He claimed that Assam’s BJP government is a syndicate.
Meanwhile, Gogoi said that the Chief Minister had used a double-edged sword when delineating the boundaries of the constituencies, branding it a plot to obliterate the support of ministers and MLAs in certain constituencies.
