Mumbai: Rs 1,725 Cr Drugs Seized In Delhi Police’s Major Haul

Guwahati: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police recovered drugs from Mumbai valued at almost Rs 1,725 crores in one of the largest heroin seizures, officials informed on Wednesday.

A senior official said, “A container having more than 22 tonnes of Licorice coated with Heroin has been seized from Nhava Sheva Port, Mumbai.”

There are around 345 kilogrammes of heroin wrapped on licorice overall, the official further informed.

This occurs exactly one year after the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in September 2021 captured a shipment of drugs at the Gujarati port of Mundra that weighed 3,000 kg and was valued at about Rs 21,000 crores. This was one of the biggest seizures in the history of the nation.

DRI discovered heroin concealed inside a shipment of semi-processed talc stone at the Container Freight Station of Mundra Port between September 17 and September 19, 2016.
