Naga People’s Organization Urges Appointment of K. Moses Chalai as Manipur’s Chief Secretary
Imphal: The Naga People’s Organization (NPO), Senapati, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, recommending K. Moses Chalai, IAS, as the suitable candidate for the post of Chief Secretary of Manipur. In a letter dated January 3, the NPO highlighted that the position had been vacant since the transfer of the previous Chief Secretary.
The organization pointed out that, despite the presence of senior Naga officers in the past, none had been appointed to the top administrative post. Officers such as Ameising Luikham and Ramnganing Muivah were overlooked in favor of officials from the Meitei and Kuki communities, with some even being posted outside the state, the NPO claimed.
In its letter, the NPO emphasized Chalai’s qualifications and seniority, stating that he is currently the most eligible candidate for the role. With extensive experience in various administrative positions, Chalai, an officer of the 1990 MT Cadre, is known for his integrity and capability, the organization asserted.
The NPO urged Amit Shah to consider Chalai’s appointment, stressing that it would foster a sense of fairness and trust among the Naga community. The organization expressed confidence that appointing Chalai would reassure Naga officers that appointments to the position of Chief Secretary would be impartial and based on merit, without bias towards any particular community.
