Nagaland: 31 Personnel of Assam Rifles Captured by Insurgent Groups, Later Released

Guwahati: At least 31 members of 25 Assam rifles who were stationed in the Jaluki district of Nagaland were taken hostage by insurgent organizations on Januaey 27 and released, according to reports.

Reportedly, the Assam Rifles personnel were apprehended by the Naga insurgent group NSCN(I-M) special unit and held at their headquarters for three to four hours, after entering the jurisdiction of the Naga Army camp area at around 2:30 pm on January 27.

All of the Assam Rifles troops who had been captured were later freed safely after receiving severe warnings not to enter their land once more in the spirit of the truce.
