Nagaland: BJP releases poll manifesto for Assembly Polls

Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda on February 14 presented the party’s election platform for the 2017 Nagaland Assembly elections.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was also present during the event in Kohima along with Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton. 

Speaking at the event, Nadda claimed that the previous administration had ignored the state.

”Previous government ignored the state. However, many of the issues concerning Nagaland are in vision documents,” he added.  

The national president of the BJP also stated that 100 crore rupees had been set aside for cold storage, which will greatly benefit the farming community.

In addition, the BJP has pledged to invest Rs 1000 crore in the establishment of a culture centre in the state.

”We have earmarked Rs 200 crore for mother and child care in the state and two lakh self-employment opportunities will be given in the next five years, in the field of tourism, skill development, and MSME,” he added.

He also disclosed that the BJP government would establish prestigious institutions like IITs and IIMs in Nagaland.

”Rs 500 crore for Saramati Cultural University in Kiphire has been earmarked for Nagas and 400 crore to be invested for cancer prevention and health care centre in Nagaland,” Nadda avowed.

When asked about the construction of roads, Nadda stated that the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Yojna would be responsible for this (PMGY).

In addition, the saffron party has pledged a special package for the development of the Eastern Nagaland population and a sum of Rs 100 crore for the expansion of the Tribal Festival’s reach.
