Nagaland Celebrates Diwali with Joy Despite Firecracker Ban

Kohima, Nagaland – Diwali was celebrated across Nagaland on Thursday with great enthusiasm, as people embraced the festival’s traditional spirit.

Throughout the day, residents thronged markets to purchase earthen lamps, diyas, and festive decorations. By evening, homes were aglow with decorative lights, diyas, and candles, filling neighborhoods with a warm, festive ambiance.

Despite a ban on firecrackers by the administration, the skies lit up with colorful fireworks, showcasing the community’s excitement.

Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio extended their Diwali wishes, emphasizing themes of peace, prosperity, and joy. “As the lights of Diwali illuminate our homes and hearts, may you all be blessed with abundance, good fortune, and prosperity in every endeavor,” said Governor Ganesan. CM Rio expressed his joy in celebrating the Festival of Lights and wished for peace and harmony in every home, urging everyone to have a safe and blessed Diwali.

This year’s celebration highlighted Nagaland’s vibrant embrace of Diwali traditions while promoting unity and goodwill among its communities.
