Nagaland CM, Dy CMs to Hold Crucial Talks with Home Minister Amit Shah

Guwahati: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio as well as the chief ministers of Nagaland’s two deputy chief ministers Yanthungo Patton and T.R. Zeliang will meet Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to talk about the long-running urban local bodies (ULB) issue.

After visiting Nagaland on February 21 and expressing the Indian government’s commitment to finding a solution to the Naga issue and fostering peace and prosperity in the Northeast, Home Minister Shah called the meeting.

Home Minister Shah emphasised the effective resolution of issues pertaining to the Bodo and Karbi Anglong regions, thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government during an electoral rally in Mon town ahead of the state assembly elections. He emphasised that while respecting the feelings of the Naga people the government is also actively attempting to find a resolution to the Naga issue.

The progress of the peace negotiations and the present state of the Naga political issue are expected to be discussed during the meeting in New Delhi between the chief minister and deputy chief minister of Nagaland and Home Minister Amit Shah. The debate over urban local bodies (ULBs) which has divided Nagaland is also likely to come up during the sessions.
