Nagaland CM’s Assets Rose by Rs 10.54 Cr in Last 5 Years

Guwahati: Nagaland Chief Minister and National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate from Northern Angami – II constituency, Neiphiu Rio has emerged as one of the wealthiest politicians running in this election with reported assets of Rs 46.95 crores.

Neiphiu Rio declared his assets in an affidavit included with his nomination papers on February 6. He declared having movable property valued at Rs 15.99 crore and real estate valued at Rs 30.96 crore.

In the last five years, the Nagaland chief minister’s assets have increased by Rs 10.54 crore. Neiphiu Rio disclosed his assets in 2018, totaling Rs 36.41 crores.

On the other hand, Nagaland BJP chief and the saffron party candidate from Alongtaki constituency Temjen Imna Along have disclosed that his entire assets amount to Rs. 10.06 crores.

He disclosed moveable and immovable assets of Rs. 1.47 crore and Rs. 8.59 crore, respectively.

BJP candidate from Tyui seat Y Patton has reported total assets of Rs 2.85 crore, including Rs 60.24 lakh in mobile assets and Rs 2.25 crore in immovable assets.

Former Nagaland Chief Minister and NDPP candidate from Peren seat TR Zeliang has disclosed a total net worth of Rs 7.37 crores.

The NDPP president and BJP leader Y Patton both took office as chief ministers after the Neiphiu Rio-led coalition defeated the Congress party in the most recent elections in 2018.

The BJP was successful in winning 12 of the 20 seats it was running for in the 2018 elections.

The coalition government in Nagaland, made up of the NDPP, the BJP, the NPF, and Independent MLAs, changed its name to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in September of last year.

The Nagaland assembly election will see many candidates in the electoral fray out of 183 candidates. The assembly polls will be held on February 27. The results will be declared on March 2.
