Nagaland: Community Outrage Erupts Following Brutal Killing in Kohima

Northeast Desk, 20th May: Outrage and condemnation have swept through Kohima following the brutal killing of Lt. Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou, Personal Assistant to the Kohima Deputy Commissioner, and his son Thejavizo B Miasalhou on the evening of May 18.

The Kohima Village Youth Organization issued a vehement denunciation, expressing disgust at the “appalling physical assault” on Lt. Miasalhou and his son. They named two perpetrators, Mr. Neizosetuo Kire and Mr. Khrietsonyü Whuorie, from Kohima village, holding them accountable for the heinous act that resulted in Lt. Miasalhou’s demise. The organization pledged full support to the victim’s family in seeking justice and urged law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation.

Similarly, the Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO) strongly condemned the incident and demanded swift action from the authorities. They emphasized the importance of holding the culprits accountable under all relevant sections of the law, warning against any attempts to secure bail for them.

In a separate statement, the Angami Women Organization (AWO) expressed shock and dismay over the “inhuman brutality” inflicted on Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou. They urged authorities to deliver justice promptly, emphasizing the incident’s impact on Kohima’s reputation and calling for calm among the community.

Earlier, the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) had condemned the “barbaric act,” identifying Neizosetuo Kire and Khrietsonyü Whuorie as responsible for disturbing the peace of Kohima.

These statements reflect the widespread condemnation and demand for justice echoing throughout the community in response to this tragic event.
