Nagaland Incident: Death toll reaches 16

Guwahati: The number of deaths reached at 16, in the Oting village incident of the Mon district of Nagaland.

The deceased were identified as Ngampho, Langlun, Hokup, Langwang, Thapwang, Shomwang, Mampeih, S. Khahwang, Thakwang, Sheiwang, Phaokam, Yinjung and Pepon. However, identification of the other three deceased is yet to be ascertained.

It was reported that the number of deaths can be rise.

At least 16 people lost their lives in a firing incident at Mon district in Nagaland on Saturday evening.

The incident allegedly took place when a group of labourers onboard a pick-up vehicle was on its way from Tiru village and the Army officials opened fire on them, suspecting them militants.

It may be mentioned that after the incident the vehicles of Army personnel were set on blaze by the angry civilians of the state.

However, the cops of Army had issued a statement where they regretted the loss of lives at the incident.
