Nagaland: National Lok Adalat Benches Resolve 168 Cases
Guwahati: The National Lok Adalat in 11 districts of Nagaland concluded the resolution of 168 cases. Total, 237 cases were listed.
The Lok Adalat collected Rs 5,39,97,434 in the form of fines, bank recoveries, automobile accident claims, compensation money, etc. The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority attested to this.
The district judges, chief judicial magistrate and civil judges served as the sessions’ presiding authorities.
The panel’s lawyers supported them. Together with the paralegal volunteers who worked as members and facilitators, these lawyers served as conciliators.
It should be noted that the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987 gave Lok Adalats statutory status.
According to the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is the implementing nodal agency with the authority to plan and administer National Lok Adalat (People’s Court).
