NE To See Influx Of Political Leaders Ahead Of Assembly Polls In 3 States

Guwahati: Union home minister Amit Shah will visit to Tripura to hold a rally ahead of the state’s assembly elections, several reports claimed on Sunday.

Visits from political leaders of the various parties vying to form a government in the three northeastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura are increasing as assembly elections in those states approach.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee is reportedly also planning to travel to Tripura to boost her party’s prospects there before the election.

According to reports, the Union home minister is expected to arrive on February 6. Amit Shah will spend the night there and speak the following day at a significant rally before returning to the capital.

On the other head, TMC supremo Banerjee is expected to arrive on February 6 as well while the party’s general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is expected to arrive on February 7.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other prominent BJP members are also reportedly set to travel to the area for campaigning.

According to reports, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh will arrive in Tripura on February 7 following Amit Shah’s departure. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will arrive for election campaigning on February 11.

Moreover, PM Modi, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive to hold rallies on February 13.

It should be mentioned that the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared the election dates for the three northeastern states’ assembly elections on January 18.

Tripura will hold its voting on February 16 while Meghalaya and Nagaland will hold their elections on February 27.

The results of the assembly poll in the three states will be announced on March 2. Meanwhile, the term of the three assemblies will be ending on different dates in March.

The five-year term of Nagaland Assembly will expire on March 12, the term of Meghalaya Assembly on March 15 and Tripura Assembly on March 22.

It should be noted that the BJP leads the coalition government in the other two northeastern states as well as Tripura.
