NFR to launch Two new joyrides trains in Darjeeling during summers

Guwahati: Due to an increase in tourist traffic during peak season, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to create two new special Joyride trains for travellers to experience joyriding in a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tourists will be able to travel between Darjeeling and Ghum stations on a daily round trip basis using the new Joyride train service. The services will be offered on June 30, 2022 to accommodate the tourist demand.

Among the new joyride services, train No. 02550 Darjeeling – Ghum – Darjeeling special joyride will depart from Darjeeling at 09.40 hours to reach Ghum at 10.20 hours. The train will leave Ghum at 10.45 hours to arrive Darjeeling at 11.22 hours.

Another train No. 02549 Darjeeling – Ghum – Darjeeling special joyride will depart from Darjeeling at 16.05 hours to reach Ghum at 16.45 hours. The train will leave Ghum at 17.15 hours to arrive Darjeeling at 17.45 hours.

The trains will be operated by diesel locomotives and will each contain three first-class chair car carriages for passengers.

Tourists can ride and see the DHR by having a joyride across the Himalayas’ breathtaking hilly environment. The DHR Railway wishes its visitors a pleasant journey.
