Nimatighat Boat Tragedy: Bag with documents recovered
Guwahati: Once again a bag containing identity cards along with some documents of a person was recovered in Assam’s Bishwanath district.
According to reports, the bag was recovered by fishermen of the area. A vehicle registration card (AS07R8009) belonging to a person named Madan Pegu of Dhakuakhana in Lakhimpur district was also recovered.
Besides this, Pegu’s Voter card, PAN card, ATM card of various banks, credit card and a few documents were also recovered from the bag.
The documents were suspected to be from a passenger of the Nimatighat to Majuli ferry accident that took place on September 8.
However, confirmation from the police is still awaited.
The bag also contains another registration certificate (AS06V2198) in the name of Samed Ali.
However, as per the government records and list issued by the administration, Pegu is alive and the reports claiming him to be possibly dead or missing are not true.
