NIT Meghalaya and NEHU to Host “Viksit Bharat 2047 – Atmanirbhar North-East” Workshop
Shillong: NIT Meghalaya, in collaboration with North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong, is set to host a two-day workshop titled “Viksit Bharat 2047 – Atmanirbhar North-East” on November 15-16, 2024.
This event, which will take place at NIT Meghalaya’s permanent campus in Saitsohpen, Sohra (Cherrapunji), is focused on advancing the vision of a self-reliant Northeast as part of India’s developmental goals for 2047.
The workshop will convene a diverse group of policymakers, academic leaders, industry experts, and youth representatives to address regional priorities essential for self-reliance, including education, technology, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure. Key discussions will center around the integration of Northeast traditions and practices into national policy, especially in the context of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, fostering inclusivity within India’s educational framework.
Atul Kothari, National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, will attend as the Chief Guest, alongside other notable speakers and officials. Prof. Pinakeswar Mahanta, Director of NIT Meghalaya, emphasized the significance of the event, describing it as “an opportunity to shape the future of the Northeast in alignment with national goals.”
The workshop will feature panel discussions, interactive sessions, and cultural programs, along with networking opportunities aimed at fostering collaboration. Positioned as a major step toward a self-sufficient Northeast, the event highlights the region’s role in contributing to India’s progress toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
