Arunachal: Itanagar Police Introduces Monthly Menstrual Leave for Female Officers

Arunachal: In a progressive step towards supporting women in the workforce, the Itanagar Capital Region Police in Arunachal Pradesh has introduced a special policy granting one day of menstrual leave each month for female personnel.

The initiative, announced in an official memorandum by SP (Capital) Rohit Rajbir Singh on Wednesday, allows female officers to take this leave on either the first or second day of their menstrual cycle. The memorandum emphasized that the policy reflects the department’s commitment to creating an inclusive work environment that addresses the unique health needs of its female staff.

The policy is expected to improve morale, enhance productivity, and support the operational readiness of female police personnel. To streamline the process, leave usage will be recorded by a designated female officer at the SP office and at individual police stations. Importantly, the policy specifies that this special leave will be considered as ‘on duty’ and is limited to one day per month, with no option for extensions.

This initiative marks a notable step forward in recognizing and supporting the health and well-being of female officers, setting an example for other departments across the country.
