Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that the bus fares in the state cannot be increased at the moment.
The Chief Minister speaking to the media said that fares of public transport cannot be increased as COVID-19 has hit the people very badly and an increase in the fares will not be appropriate as of now.
He added that if a person is asked to pay excessive fare while on a public transport vehicle, the person should directly say that the Chief Minister has asked no to increase the fares.
Sarma also ensured that there will be a discussion regarding the fare increase in the future but as of now, he urged the owners of the vehicles not to increase the fares.
