Omicron Scare: Weekend curfew to be imposed in Delhi

Guwahati: In view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Delhi and the spread of Omicron across the country, the Delhi government will impose a weekend curfew in the capital state.

According to reports, the government will also provide work from home for the government workers in the state to combat the virus, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after having a meeting on new restrictions said.

With the positivity rate in Delhi rising above 5% for two days in a row – a threshold that prompts a red alert under the colour-coded Graded Response Action Plan – the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) convened to decide on new limitations (GRAP).

“To combat COVID, the DDMA has decided to implement a curfew in Delhi on Saturdays and Sundays. Except for those who provide critical services, all government employees will work from home. Fifty percent of the private office employees will work from home ” Sisodia said.

“Buses and metro will run at full capacity, but only with a mask. There’s nothing to be concerned about. Make masks your protection.”

The positivity rate in Delhi is at 6.46 percent, the highest since May.

It may be mentioned that earlier this morning Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Twitted that he got positive for Covid-19 and isolated him at home.
