One detain by Assam Police in Congress leader Janardan Gogoi’s ULFA-I joining case

Guwahati: One person has been detained from Sivasagar by the Assam Police on Sunday midnight in connection to Sadiya Congress youth leader, Janardan Gogoi joining the underground militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).

The detainee identified as Swapnil Borpatragohain who is a resident of Chengli Bari at Betbari Village of the district.

According to reports, he was handed over to Sadiya police during the midnight hours.

Janardan Gogoi, an Assam Congress youth leader from Tinsukia, has joined the underground militant group United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), according to a Facebook post by Jonardhan himself.

Janardan, a Sadiya resident from Uday Nagar, joined the ULFA Myanmar camp led by Aicheng Assam.

Before joining the group, Gogoi sent a long post to his pregnant wife Reema on Sunday explaining why he wanted to join ULFA.

“I couldn’t wait to see our own people annihilated since they are powerless in their current situation. After witnessing the suffering of my own people, who have been victims of lies and manipulation for years, I couldn’t keep my hands still”, Gogoi wrote in his statement.
