Over 1000 Schools Affected by Assam Flood in Dhubri
Guwahati: Floods in Assam’s Dhubri district have wreaked havoc on educational infrastructure, affecting over 1000 schools.
According to reports, the current floods have damaged over a thousand schools in the district, out of a total of 2014. The flood waters have completely destroyed 876 schools and partially destroyed 266 others.
Furthermore, 36 schools have been turned into relief camps in order to provide shelter to flood victims.
411 schools have been completely destroyed and 98 schools have been partially destroyed in the Bilasipara education block. In the Chapar Education Block, 38 schools have been completely flooded, while 5 others have been partially flooded. In Gauripur Education Block, 256 schools have been completely submerged by flood waters, while 65 schools have been partially flooded. Out of 330 schools in the Agomoni Education Block, 15 are completely damaged and 40 are somewhat affected.
Meanwhile, all government and private educational institutions in the area have been ordered to close by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority. Exams have been exempted from being administered, according to the DC’s directive.
