Over 67,000 devotees visit Amarnath cave shrine in first 5 days of pilgrimage
National desk, 6 July: Around 67,566 pilgrims have visited the Amarnath cave temple overall since the Yatra got underway on July 1, according to a statement released by the government on Wednesday.
From the Baltal base camp and Nunwan base camp, 18,354 people did the darshan on Wednesday.
An official statement read,”These include 12483 males, 5146 females, 457 children, 266 sadhus and 2 sadhvis.”
It further added, “The total number of yatris who performed Darshan since the beginning is 67566. More yatris will visit the shrine in the coming days.”
The official spokesperson claims that state organisations and civil departments support pilgrims throughout their whole journey by providing all the necessities and amenities to devotees.
It added, “All the departments including Police, SDRF, Army, paramilitary, Health, PDD, PHE, ULB, Information, Labour, Fire and Emergency, Education, and Animal Husbandry have saturated the overall requirements and arrangements of SANJY by the deployment of their men and machinery.”
According to the statement, all camp services, including Langers, health centres, assistance from service providers like poniwallas, pithuwalas and dandiwalas, sanitation and many other services, are made available to yatris under the supervision of camp directors.
The 62-day long Shri Amarnath Yatra will come to an end on August 31, 2023.
From the base camp in the south Kashmir Himalayas, the pilgrims will go 12 kilometres (12 miles) to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine which is located at an elevation of roughly 13,000 feet.
